The Security Events report is a single log of the security-related events across your fleet — battery disconnections, SOS or panic activations, and towing detection — each with its location and how quickly it was responded to. It is built for fleet security and control-room teams who need one place to review incidents.

What the report shows

The report gathers every security event for the period and summarises the totals:

  • Total Events — all security events recorded across the fleet in the period.
  • Battery Disconnects — how many times a device lost its main power supply, which can indicate tampering.
  • SOS Alerts — the number of SOS or panic-button activations by drivers.
  • Towing Events — movements detected that look like the vehicle was towed rather than driven.
  • Vehicles Affected — how many distinct vehicles were involved in these events.
  • Avg Response Time — the average time taken to respond to an event, a measure of how quickly your team reacts.

How to run it

  1. Open Reports and choose the Sensors & Add-ons category (or search “security”).
  2. Select Security Events.
  3. Set the date range you want.
  4. Click View to see it on screen, or Download for a PDF or Excel copy.

Schedule it

Use the Scheduled tab to receive a daily security digest by email, giving supervisors a summary of overnight events. For instant notification of individual events, set up alerts rather than relying on the report.

Frequently asked questions

Do these events need extra hardware?

Battery-disconnect and towing detection work from the standard AVLView tracking device. SOS/panic events need an SOS or panic-button add-on wired into the vehicle.

Is this the same as real-time alerts?

No — the report is a historical log for review and analysis. For immediate warning when an event happens, use AVLView alerts, which notify you as the event is detected.
