Create a Point of Interest (POI)

A point of interest (POI) is a place you care about — a depot, a client site, a fuel station — pinned to the map so you can see it, group it and get alerts for it. You create one straight from the map in a few clicks.

Shows: The Drop-a-pin POI panel with name, category dropdown, colour presets, buffer-radius slider and the pin's coordinates.

How to create a point of interest

  1. Open the POI tool from the right-hand toolbar and choose Drop a pin (Point of Interest).
  2. Click on the map to place the marker. Its latitude and longitude appear so you can confirm the spot.
  3. Enter a name for the place.
  4. Pick a category — a magic-wand hint auto-suggests one from the name or the pin's reverse-geocoded location, which you can accept or change.
  5. Choose a colour from the six presets and set a buffer radius with the slider (0–50 m).
  6. Click Save, or Save & Add Another to keep placing more pins.

What you can set

  • Name — a clear label for the place.
  • Category — one of ten: Depot, Warehouse, Client Site, Fuel Station, Service Centre, Checkpoint, Rest Area, Loading Zone, Restricted Area, or Other.
  • Colour — six preset colours to keep places visually organised on the map.
  • Buffer radius — a 0–50 m radius around the pin, so a vehicle counts as "at" the place when it enters that circle.

Frequently asked questions

Can I get an alert when a vehicle reaches this place?

Yes. After saving, flip the Watch toggle on the POI to instantly create an entry or dwell alert for it. For more control, the Advanced alert rule link opens the Alerts screen.

Where do my saved POIs live?

All your points of interest are listed and managed in the Saved Places list, where you can edit, watch or remove them.
